How does it work?

Acceleration sensor

Inside your mobile device, there's an acceleration sensor that generates data to calculate steps.

Moving distance

Your steps and stride length determine your traveled distance. During workouts, GPS data is also used to calculate distance.

*Stride length is an estimation calculated based on your profile settings and cadence (steps per minute).

Why isn't it counting correctly?

Device placement

Some steps might not register when carrying your device in a pocket or bag.

Not enough steps

Multiple steps must be detected for the activity to be recorded.

Extra steps

Movements made while riding in a car or on a bike may register as steps.

Can I track across devices?

Connect your mobile device and watch

When connected, the two devices sync health data and combine step counts.

Differences between devices

If the step counts don't match, check to see whether: “All steps” is chosen in Step Tracker options; your mobile device and watch are connected; and that your app is up-to-date.

  • * If the sensor test indicates something is wrong, you may need to visit a service center for further screening. If it is working normally, submit an inquiry to customer service through the Samsung Health app. Our team will provide you with further information.
